Tilghman Island Seafood is a community-based fishery that was created as a response to work with watermen to target the incredibly invasive (yet incredibly delicious) blue catfish.
We are able to utilize all the various sizes of the whole blue catfish (1-2 lbs. all the way up) and process up to an astounding 83% of each individual blue catfish! This enables us to purchase from the watermen consistently, fairly, and without cherry picking from their haul all year round.
The Chesapeake Bay, as glorious as it is productive, has been depended on throughout history for food, transport and recreation.
It is a vital resource that commands respect all while requiring controls and protection, and is our way of life; we are committed to it.
