About Micmac Farms

Our brook trout are a single generation from Maine’s native brook trout population in the Nesowadnehunk Dead Waters of wild Baxter State Park. Micmac Farms’ fish are as pure as the pristine cold waters rushing through the shadows of Mt. Katahdin and why we pledge not to use antibiotics or chemicals to raise our fish.

Micmac Farms is 100% owned and operated by the Aroostook Band of Micmac and our commitment to sustainably and ethically raised fish has awarded us the 'Best Choice' rating through FishChoice. We source the highest quality feed rich in natural Omega 3's and free of fillers, dyes, and starches commonly found in the industry because we strive to raise fish with the most natural methods we know.

Micmac Farms is more than our Maine Brook Trout, it is the idea that our people will sustain themselves on the protein that has been the cornerstone of our diet since time eternal. With fishing limits, seasons, and contamination of wild populations - we have adapted and reinvented our access to Maine Brook Trout - It is our honor to share this fish with YOU!

Visit Micmac Farms to tour our hatchery or sit down in our retail store to enjoy a hot farm-to-table lunch. Fruit, vegetable, specialty preserves, maple syrup, baskets, and artistry are some of the things we have instore for you! The whole family will enjoy our monthly 'Festival Market' with live musical guests, drumming, and more than 20 Maine producers and growers!

Micmac Farms is creating access to wholesome and nutritious foods while pledging to not use chemicals, antibiotics, or hormones in our agricultural methods. Proud member of the Intertribal Agricultural Council and producer for American Indian Foods.

We handle our catch with the utmost care because we respect the gifts of mother earth and are sustaining the future of our seven generations. Compost generated from our recirculating aquaculture facility is recaptured and utilized as the fertilizer product on our orchards and produce fields. We promote environmental stewardship through onsite learning and structured tours to educational Pre-K through college level. Micmac Farms utilizes natural methods to produce wholesome foods and agricultural products to support local food sovereignty, food security, and the health of northern Maine communities.
