We currently work with only small-boat fishers, and family-owned processors in Southeast, Alaska and Oregon. The trollers and long-liners that we work with Catch and Handle with Honor each fish, and deliver to the processors in a timely manner to ensure the highest quality product. Fishermen in the fleet that we work with pay close attention to the changes within their fishery and work with Alaska Fish and Game to make policy decisions like the recent change from the Fall Spot Prawn fishery to Spring to protect the females with mature eggs. They understand that Community and Ecosystem Based Fisheries Management is the key to the longevity of their craft, and the sustainability of the biome. We support local fishing communities like Elfin Cove and Pelican, Alaska that are committed to their own economic resilience and long-term sustainability, and want to see the oceans protected so that there children and grandchildren will have the opportunity to fish them if they chose to. We believe that Community-Based Fisheries empower and enrich the lives of more people than the global seafood conglomerates. Without commercial fisheries, these communities would be owned by wealthy out-of-state charter fishing lodge owners and investment groups. We are committed to supporting our fishing partners Creatively and Collaboratively in finding their own direct markets, and improving systems related to their supply chain, environmental impacts, and access to the work force. The variety offered in our Fish Share model allows for us to help our members Eat with the Ecosystem by highlighting seasonally abundant fisheries, and by creating demand for seasonal variety instead of a specific species. We believe that barriers should be removed, such as limited access to publicly-funded ice machines, so that fisherman can have Fair Access to a direct market of their own, and so that they can receive a Fair Price for their catch. At Wild Pacific Foods, we Honor the Ocean and believe that our number one priority before any form of economic value creation is to protect the value that is created in our oceans through policy, behavior change, and environmental stewardship. Our members know that our offerings are 100% Traceable and that we provide it through the Simplest Supply Chain possible.
